Description

The Breck Epic reigns supreme as one of the top mountain bike stage races in the USA… and all of North America… and actually, pretty much the entire world. Here’s how Mike McCormack, the creator and organizer of the Breck Epic, describes it:

"The Epic is composed of 6 BIG backcountry loops, each between 35 and 50 miles long. The event is unique in that it employs a cloverleaf format; each loop starts and finishes within a mile from downtown Breckenridge and utilizes the sprawling network of trails in both Summit and Park Counties. When mapping out the courses, we asked ourselves: 'What big rides would we want to tackle if we had most of the day to slaughter and 6 of our best friends?' The answer lies before you. The six stages that compose the Epic are a well-rounded rider’s dream. Long rhythmic climbs followed by endless descents that make your smile muscles hurt.”

There’s no better way to familiarize yourself with the massive spread of superb singletrack in Summit County than by either competing in the Breck Epic or cribbing the stages and turning them into your own self-paced ride guide. Whether you want to challenge yourself on Breck's gnarliest enduro descent down Wheeler, venture deep into the backcountry on Gold Dust, or enjoy the best singletrack that the Colorado Trail has to offer, you can find all that and more in these six fantastic stages from the Breck Epic.
