Freeride Skiing Difficult
Cream Cheese Ridge is the ridge located past Monday's, Cockalorum, Stefan's Chute and Lox Chute at the far end. It provides the easiest access into West Bowl and can be used as a way to get a feel for this terrain before choosing to ski one of the chutes, located on the skier's right. Cream Cheese Ridge offers the opportunity to explore the West Bowl without having to commit to the steep and tight nature of the other lines. This area is slightly exposed, with cliffs on the left hand side. In order to access Cream Cheese Ridge, take a right off of the Peak Express and follow the signs for Upper Peak to Creek, passing the traverse for Whistler Bowl on your right. Look for the next turnoff on your right hand side, which will be for West Bowl. Take this route and traverse along the ridge to the very end past the large rock outcrop that separates Lox Chute and Stefan's Chute. The traverse eventually meets this ridge at its end. Cream Cheese Ridge is not nearly as steep as the chutes located nearby, and is also far more spread out and wide open in comparison to the chutes, which allows for a much easier route to descend below into West Bowl, as you descend you will pass a few trees on the right hand side. At this point, West Bowl will quickly drop you onto Highway 86, where you can take Lower Peak to Creek all the way down to Creekside or choose to ride the Highway 86 road back to mid-station (top of the Creekside Gondola and bottom of the Big Red Express). Whichever route you choose at the bottom, Cream Cheese Ridge is a great way to familiarize yourself with terrain in the West Bowl without the challenging steep and tight nature of the other neighboring lines.
