There is a short, steep hike up to the trailhead, which takes you up a few switchbacks through the beautiful, shady woods. Then it evens out for the relatively flat hike across the Balcon Sud. On this straight, you'll come across clearings that give stunning views of Mont Blanc and surrounding peaks. The descent begins with a sharp switchback, then stays straight and easy.
