The bowl under The Finger has become quite popular lately, and there is no wonder why that is. It has a long season and you will often find very good snow here! Also, this is a tour that suits every level, which is why it has become a classic. Both the beginner and the experienced will find something enjoyable here. This is a description of the normal route.

Description

Park your car at the big parking lot along the main road. Follow the road heading north to Standalhytta. From here on you continue to the west until the face opens up in front of you. Now you can see characteristic shape of The Finger in front of you. Climb the hill at its most gentle slope, to the right of the big canyon. Watch out for avalanche run out zones beneath "Noklane" at approximately 700-800 m.a.s.l.

At approximately 800 m.a.s.l. turn slightly to the west and head towards the col to the east of The Finger. This is where most people make the transition into skiing mode. If you want to go all the way to the top of The Finger you need to bring climbing gear.

For the descent, follow the same route as the ascent. For more steeper alternatives to the skiers right, see our other route description.

As mentioned earlier, this trip has become very popular. If you want untouched snow and good light, start early in day. Then you have enough time for several descents or you can enjoy lunch time in the sun after fresh powder!
