8th Street - Hard Guy Loop Map

Hard Guy is well known as some of the best singletrack in the Boise foothills. It bombs down from the top of Boise Ridge almost all the way to the bottom, and of course, that means it takes some work to get to. You could shuttle it on a long and rough 4WD road, but you might as well pedal it and really earn the downhill.

Description

Start from Corrals trailhead on Bogus Basin Road, and warm up with the climb to get on Scott's trail. Scott's is more technical and continues upward up to connect with 8th Street Extension. By then you've already climbed about 1500 feet, but on the dirt road, you'll grunt another 1500 up to Eagleson Summit. Motor traffic can be a nuisance on this road, but at least the views are nice, and it makes the most efficient way to gain so much elevation in the foothills.

From the summit, now in breezy forest instead of parched grassland, the road turns downhill for about a mile. Hard Guy trail then branches off, and from there it's 3000 feet of pure fun back to the start. Expect some rocks and short drops, but mostly smooth singletrack snaking all the way down a wide-open ridgeline.
