The steep headwall looker's left of Main Chute and Little Chute on Mount Baldy
Freeride Skiing Severe
The steep headwall lookers left of the 'Baldy Chutes' above Alta's Ballroom area. The slope is steep and prone to avalanche so Alta rarely has it OPEN and Perla's may only be skied when OPEN. It is supposedly named after a Forest Ranger who was caught in an avalanche on the slope (and was OK). There are various lines down this headwall, most are exposed and exciting.
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
