Freeride Skiing Easy, Moderate, Difficult, Severe
Davos is renowned for being a first-class ski destination, boasting masses of powder and spellbinding scenery. As one of the original ski towns, “so it is that Davos… can claim to be “the birthplace of alpine skiing”. Davos also went on to become one of the World’s greatest ski towns, famous even beyond winter sports as the host each January of the World Economic Forum” - Patrick Thorne in his book Powder: The Greatest Ski Runs on the Planet.
What this small Swiss ski resort lacks in architectural beauty and quaintness, it makes up for with its wonderful skiing options. When combined with the smaller neighbouring ski village Klosters, Davos Klosters Mountains resort boasts a huge 320km skiable area spread across 6 snow sports sectors. In fact, there are so many freeride lines to be tried that we had to create 2 guidebooks for the area. This guidebook covers freeride lines on the Schierhorn and Schwarzhorn mountains. For more freeride options on the other side of the valley, check out our ‘Davos Klosters Freeride #1' guidebook, for freeriding on Rinerhorn mountain and the freestyle mountain Jakobshorn.
