This is the alternate route to Rundumadum Stage 7, which goes through Lainzer Tiergarten from Lainzer Tor to Gütenbachtor. If you are hiking with your dog, or if the park is closed in winter, you should take Route 2 instead. Though it misses out on the wildlife of Lainzer, this route has its own perks. It goes through the Maurer Wald–a lush woodland on a hill with a guesthouse nestled in the center, which can only be reached by trail. Nearby are playgrounds and an ancient quarry site. With a short detour you can also reach Wotrubakirche, one of Vienna's most unique buildings. The path rejoins Route 1 near Poplar Pond, then continues through a more urban setting to finish the stage.
