Rachas North Face Map

The Rachas North Face provides great skiing in a beautiful open bowl. Take great care to check snow conditions and assess the avalanche risk on the convex upper slopes. From the col on the Super Diable 1 piste break off right and make a horizontal traverse directly across the south-facing slope of Les Rachas. Make a short climb up, often over a small cornice, onto the broad summit ridge/plateau. Head north across the plateau and as the convex slope starts to fall away disconcertingly below, move carefully down (risk of windslab) until the bowl starts to reveal itself below. Now ski directly down the slope below, bearing left under the cliffs to access a fabulous open slope leading out to the Bellecombes 1 piste.
