Ski Touring Easy, Moderate, Difficult
Ski touring at Snoqualmie Pass provides some of the best freeride terrain in Washington, all sitting amidst the stunning beauty of the Cascade Mountains. There's terrain to suit all tastes at Snoqualmie Pass, from mellow slopes to challenging couloirs, so you should be able to find a suitable tour regardless of your skill/experience level, or the avalanche conditions. The Kendall Stumps route should be possible in virtually any conditions, but you certainly won't struggle to find more challenging options in this guidebook if you're seeking them.
The terrain surrounding Snoqualmie Pass is not only exceptional for skiing, it's also breathtakingly beautiful. With old-growth forests covering the hillsides, broken only by open meadows, the uphill is almost as fun as the down in this part of the world. The panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and pristine wilderness are fabulous and only add to the sense of adventure and wonder as you explore the backcountry.
Thanks to these virtues and its relative proximity to Seattle, Snoqualmie Pass has a vibrant backcountry skiing community, so you're unlikely to be the only people enjoying its backcountry terrain. The pass's own ski resort also offers some fun terrain and a scene all of its own, so Snoqualmie Pass is an excellent place for a trip combining lift-served and human-powered ski adventures.
The routes in here were written by local expert Kyle Miller, who's one of most experienced and knowledgeable ski mountaineers in Washington. If Kyle wrote it, it must be a good route, and you'll have all the information you need to ski it.
See you at Snoqualmie!
