A steep direct start to the Robert Blanc piste
Freeride Skiing Severe
This is essentially a direct start to the Robert Blanc black piste. Fairly short, but steep, and with some rocky sections, so ski carefully. Leave the Arandelières piste leftwards at or just after the last big right turn before it heads off down the glacier, and follow the blunt ridge until just after it starts bearing right. On the left an obvious wide gully leads to more open slopes sweeping down to the road section of the Arandelières piste, which cuts right across this face. Check conditions carefully and beware of windslab in the gully and slope apron below.
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
